Barton Smart Improv
Monday Aug 15th, 2022 6:00 pmThe Basics of Agreement and Scenework
David Barton Harris
Do you ever feel like you don't know what to say in the moment? And then later, you spend time thinking of all the brilliant things you could've said? Are you looking to become more comfortable and confident in speaking or performance situations? Would you like to become a better listener and idea generator? Do you just want to have a boatload of fun?
This 4-week course introduces the basics of long-form comedic improvisation. Students will learn how to create funny and engaging characters and scenes together using listening, agreement, physicality, and commitment - all while playing games!
About the Teacher: David Barton Harris taught improv from 2008-2017 at the esteemed Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles, where he instructed over 4,000 students, many of whom are currently working successful comedy careers. David has toured the US, performing and teaching long-form improv at hundreds of schools and companies. In 2010, his skills landed him a starring role on MTV's hidden camera prank show, Disaster Date, launching his acting and writing career. David is the owner of Barton Smart Trivia and brings his comedic and improvisational skills to writing and hosting trivia in Northern Virginia every week.
